Cumberland County heads up latest NC Triple P regional rollout

Cumberland is the latest NC county to make the Triple P - Positive Parenting Program available to parents and carers, with new full-time staff being employed by the County Health Department to implement the internationally acclaimed program, thanks to $290,000 in state funding.

Triple P is already available to families in many counties across North Carolina, and Cumberland will head up a new group of counties joining the rollout.

The Triple P program was chosen because it offers a complete family support system designed to prevent and treat behavioral and emotional problems in children. Cumberland joins 19 northeastern counties who already benefit from the program, along with many others throughout the state.

The Triple P Cumberland rollout has been established by a committee known as SOAR, or Strengths in Overcoming Adversity through Resiliency. SOAR brings together more than two dozen organizations and individuals working together to proactively improve children's health in the region.

Other counties in NC already offering families free or low-cost Triple P include Alamance, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Beaufort, Bertie, Buncombe, Cabarrus, Camden, Catawba, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Durham, Edgecombe, Gates, Greene, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Madison, Martin, Mecklenburg, Nash, New Hanover, Northampton, Onslow, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Pitt, Tyrrell, Union, Vance, Wake, Warren, Washington, Watauga and Wilkes.
